Bed care
I changed my duvet cover every week for 12 years. The cover wasn’t the problem.
The duvet was. At Les Dormeurs, the cover is built right into the duvet: one single piece, nothing to remove, nothing to stuff in, no corners to hunt for. Wash. Dry. Bed. That’s it.
- No more duvet covers to change
- The whole duvet goes in the washing machine
- Dries in 2 to 3 hours, not two days

They’ll never put on a duvet cover again
What comes up most often in feedback isn’t the comfort. It’s no longer having that chore nagging away at the back of your mind.
“I told myself: changing a cover isn’t exactly the end of the world. Three months later, I wouldn’t go back for anything. I hadn’t realised how much space it took up in my head.”
“I make my bed on my own, and with a cover it had become an ordeal. Ten minutes walking round and round the bed. Now I lay the duvet down and that’s it. I’ve ordered a second one for the spare room.”
“My dog gets on the bed, that’s just how it is. Washed in the morning, back on the bed in the evening: I now wash my duvet every week, which I never did before.”

You wash your sheets, your pillowcases, your duvet cover. But what about the duvet inside?
“When did you last wash your duvet? Not the cover. The duvet.”
For most of us, the honest answer is: never. A traditional duvet doesn’t really fit in a washing machine. Too bulky, too heavy, too much hassle. So we wash what goes around it, and button the cover back up over the top.
Yet it’s the duvet that takes the sweat, the everyday dust, the dog or cat hair. We make a bed that looks clean, without having washed the biggest thing in it.
And then there’s the weekly ritual: take off the cover, find the corners, stuff it in, shake. One corner stays empty, all the filling has gone to the other side. Start again.
A traditional duvet
- A cover to change every week
- The duvet itself is hardly ever washed
- The filling slips and one corner ends up empty
- Two days on a clothes airer in the bedroom
The coverless duvet
- Nothing to stuff in: lay it down and you’re done
- The whole duvet goes in the washing machine
- The filling can no longer move
- Dries in 2 to 3 hours
The problem isn’t your bed linen. The problem is the duvet. And if you really want to solve it, you don’t need another cover. You need a different duvet.
What if the duvet cover no longer existed at all?
The Les Dormeurs duvet is one single continuous piece. The cover isn’t put on over the top: it is part of the duvet. There’s nothing to open, nothing to stuff in, no buttons, no zip.
When you want to wash your bed, you no longer take anything apart. You take the whole duvet, put it in the washing machine, dry it, and it goes back on the bed.

The 5 reasons people never go back
No more covers to change
The duvet and the cover are one single piece. Nothing to stuff in, no corners to hunt for, no one to call for help. Lay it on the bed, and you’re done.
The whole duvet gets washed
Not just the outer shell. Sweat, dust, pet hair: it all goes in the wash. That’s the real difference from a traditional bed.
No more duvet bunched up in a corner
Because there’s no separate cover, the filling can no longer shift. No more lump on one side and empty corner on the other, even after washing.
It dries in 2 to 3 hours
In the washing machine in the morning, back on the bed in the evening. No clothes airer cluttering up the bedroom for two days, no trip to the launderette.
9 colours, 5 sizes
From single to king size, in 9 colours to suit any bedroom. The hardest part, in the end? Choosing the colour.
A matt brushed fabric, not a shiny one
Diamond quilting, evenly spread filling, a soft matt feel. A duvet that looks like a real duvet, not a sleeping bag.
“Will it really fit in my washing machine?”
It’s by far the most frequent question under our posts. And it’s a fair one: it’s precisely because a traditional duvet doesn’t fit in a washing machine that nobody ever washes it.
The honest answer is that it depends on two things: the duvet size you choose, and the capacity of your washing machine. A 140 x 200 and a 264 x 229 obviously don’t have the same volume.
What to check before you order
- The width of your bed This determines which duvet size to choose. The table just below shows you which size matches your bed.
- The capacity of your washing machine It’s shown on the door, on the label inside the door, or in the manual. It’s a figure in kilos.
Not sure? Write to us before you order with the width of your bed and the capacity of your washing machine: we’ll check with you. It’s simpler for everyone than sending a parcel back.
The right size, first time
It’s the most common mistake when buying: ordering a duvet the same size as your bed. But a 160 cm bed doesn’t need a 160 cm duvet — otherwise it doesn’t hang down on either side, and you spend the night tugging at it.
230 x 230 cm minimum. For a generous drape on each side. Still with no separate cover.
| Your bed | Your duvet | |
|---|---|---|
| Single bed — 90 cm | 140 x 200 cm | |
| Small double bed — 120 cm | 160 x 210 cm | |
| Double bed — 135 to 140 cm | 200 x 200 cm | |
| King-size bed — 150 to 160 cm | 230 x 230 cm | |
| Super king bed — 180 cm and over | 264 x 229 cm | |
If you’re between two sizes, always choose the larger one: a duvet that’s too small won’t hang down, while a slightly larger duvet simply drapes better.
9 colours. 0 covers.
A duvet is the largest visible surface in a bedroom. Since there’s no longer a cover to change for variety, you might as well choose the right colour from the start.
“The hardest part, in the end? Choosing the colour.”
It’s not on the first night that you get it. It’s at the first wash.
You make the bed in a few seconds. You think: “was it really that simple?”
First wash. In the washing machine in the morning, on the bed in the evening. You’ve just washed your duvet more times than in the last three years put together.
That little thought, “I really ought to change the bed”, has gone from your mind. Only now do you realise how often it used to come back.
The cupboard is emptier: no more piles of covers to match, fold and put away. One duvet, one move.
The old covers are still in the wardrobe. You won’t need them any more.
It solves a very real problem

The full return conditions are set out in our terms and conditions of sale.
A chore nobody had bothered to get rid of
Changing a duvet cover is one of the most hated household chores, and yet it hasn’t changed in decades. We simply looked at the problem the other way round: rather than making the cover easier to put on, we got rid of it.
The rest followed naturally. With no separate cover, the filling can no longer shift, so no more empty corners. The whole duvet fits in a washing machine, so it actually gets washed. And since you no longer change covers to change the look, we made it in 9 colours.
It’s a product that isn’t trying to impress. It simply takes a chore out of your week, and it does so from the very first night.
Still have a question?
Will it fit in a standard washing machine?
It depends on the size you choose and the capacity of your washing machine. A 140 x 200 and a 264 x 229 don’t have the same volume.
Before you order, check two things: the width of your bed, and the capacity of your washing machine (shown on the door or in the manual). If in doubt, write to us with these two details and we’ll check with you.
How long does it take to dry?
Allow 2 to 3 hours in the open air, less in a tumble dryer. In the washing machine in the morning, it’s back on the bed in the evening.
That’s what makes all the difference compared with a traditional duvet, which takes one to two days to dry and takes over an entire clothes airer.
Without a cover, is it really clean?
Quite the opposite. With a traditional bed, you wash the cover but almost never the duvet inside it. Here, there’s nothing to remove: the whole duvet goes in the washing machine, as often as your sheets.
Which size should I choose for my bed?
You don’t choose a duvet the same size as your bed, otherwise it won’t hang down. For a 160 cm bed (or a UK king or super king), you need 230 x 230 cm minimum.
The size table is a little further up this page. If you’re between two sizes, always choose the larger one.
How do I wash and dry it?
Machine wash at 30 or 40°, just like your sheets. Dry in the open air, or in a tumble dryer on a low heat, which is even quicker.
No preparation needed: you don’t remove anything, you don’t take anything apart. You put the duvet into the drum just as it is.
Is it warm enough in winter?
Yes. It’s an all-season duvet, designed to be kept on all year round.
The filling is held in place by diamond quilting across the whole surface: it can’t slip or bunch up on one side. So you no longer get hollow corners or cold spots, which always happen with a duvet that moves around inside its cover.
Does it lose its shape after several washes?
The filling is held in place by diamond quilting across the whole surface. It can’t slip to one side or bunch up in a corner, unlike a duvet moving freely inside its cover.
What is it made of?
A matt brushed polyester fabric, soft to the touch, with visible diamond quilting. No satin, no shine, no zip or buttons: one single continuous piece.
A matt brushed polyester shell, soft and non-shiny, and a filling spread across the whole surface by the diamond quilting. The whole thing forms one single continuous piece: there’s nothing to open, so nothing that can come undone in the wash.
Which colours are available?
9 colours: storm blue, burgundy, sage green, beige, cream, anthracite grey, black, taupe and brown.
What are the delivery times?
Allow 6 to 10 working days. You’ll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your parcel is dispatched, and you can follow its progress at any time.
