What our customers have written to us

What you really think of our duvet. Some of the answers surprised us too.

MelissaLes Dormeurs customer service

We read every review left on our website or on Trustpilot, and every message sent to customer service. Over 1,000 reviews on our product page, an average rating of 4.6 out of 5. And above all, not just stars: whole sentences.

One question keeps coming up under our posts:

Why didn’t anyone invent this before?

So we sat down, reread everything, and looked at what kept coming up. What bothered you about your old duvet. And what has changed since.

Here are the 10 lessons we learned.

01

“It’s so practical, plus you only have to put the duvet in the wash without taking off a cover etc. All in one, just perfect!”

Nadège, Trustpilot review

The chore everyone talks about: the cover

A cover to turn inside out, corners to hunt for, a duvet that ends up in a heap at the bottom. And you start all over again the following week.

Most of you did it without even thinking. Out of habit. Until the day you realise it wasn’t normal, it was just a habit.

Our duvet makes all that unnecessary. The outer shell and the filling are one single piece: no buttons, no zip, no flap. Nothing to stuff in. Lay it on the bed and you’re done. And on wash day, the whole duvet goes in the washing machine, not just a cover.

“They’re light and very pleasant against the skin, really warm despite being so light”

Pia, Belgium, Trustpilot review

“Light”: the word that comes up review after review

When you tell us about your old duvet, it’s often the same story: too heavy, too thick, too bulky.

Some of you were even worried about the opposite. Sandra, for example:

“Very light duvet I was worried because I like sleeping with some weight on me. but it’s soft and warm at the same time I LOVE IT”Sandra, Trustpilot review

Our duvet is deliberately thinner than a traditional duvet. Its 260 g/m² filling keeps in the warmth without weighing you down.

“No stifling feeling at all, even when it’s hot.”

Aurélie, website review

Not too hot, not too cold

That’s the whole problem with traditional duvets. The thin one is too cold in winter, the thick one too hot in summer. So two duvets pile up in the cupboard and you swap them twice a year.

Several of you wrote to us about heat at night. Valérie, in particular:

“With my hot flushes it’s a real relief. I recommend it.”Valérie, website review

The reason is simple: the filling is temperature-regulating. It breathes when it’s hot and insulates when it’s cold. One duvet for the whole year, nothing to swap between seasons.

“I wasn’t really convinced and in the end I’m won over.”

Bernard, website review

The doubt, just before ordering

We understand. Social media is full of products that promise more than they deliver. Once you’ve been let down, you no longer take an advert at its word.

That doubt is fair. And that’s exactly why we don’t ask you to take our word for it.

You sleep with it for 100 nights, at home, in your own bed. If it isn’t right for you, you write to us and we arrange the return, with a full refund. Even if you’ve washed it: that’s what it’s made for.

“You can wash it often, it’s great for hygiene.”

Séverine, website review

What we almost never wash

Let’s be honest: when did you last wash your duvet? Not the cover. The duvet. For many people, the answer is: never. Too big, too heavy, off to the dry cleaner’s… or back in the cupboard.

The cover only protects the surface of the duvet. Sweat, dust, hair: night after night, it all ends up inside.

With our duvet, it’s not a cover you wash, it’s the whole duvet. At 40 °C, in your own washing machine, as often as you like. And that clean feeling when you get into bed is something you often tell us about.

“My duvet is perfect washed put back on 3 hrs later no effort a revolution I’m a fan I’m getting a second one thank you”

Patricia, Trustpilot review

One of the questions we’re asked most before people buy: “will it really fit in my washing machine?”

Washing a traditional duvet takes planning: the launderette, the clothes airer taken up all day, a spare duvet on the bed, and the next day it’s still damp.

Our duvet is designed for the opposite. Every size fits in a domestic washing machine from 5 kg. It dries in 2 to 3 hours in the open air, even faster in a tumble dryer.

“Even the dog prefers it to his basket now. Dries in 2-3 hrs at my place, it’s amazing”Anthony, website review

And it holds up in the wash. Véronique wrote to tell us: “No shrinkage after washing. Adopted for good.”

“And I’m someone who feels the cold. […] Surprisingly warm for something so thin.”

Sophie, website review

Thin, but warm

It’s the other question we often read under our posts: it looks thin, so does it keep you warm in winter?

For a long time, people thought a warm duvet had to be thick. Your reviews say otherwise. Laura bought it for her daughter’s bedroom: “No getting cold at night.”

The filling keeps in the warmth when it’s cold. Just one piece of advice: choose the right size. A duvet that’s too small lets the cold in at the sides (more on that in point 09).

“I got some for the children’s bedrooms they love them.”

Véronique, website review

Who is it for? Often, the whole house

Many people first order a duvet for their own bed. Then come back for another bedroom.

“The sage green colour looks really good on the bed. Perfect for my daughter’s bedroom.”Laura, website review
“tried it and loved it! So I’ve ordered a bigger one for the winter!”Jessica, Trustpilot review

Marie-France wrote to us directly: “I think I’m going to order another one from you in a different colour.” Nine colours, and the free pillowcases come in the same colour as the duvet.

“It’s OK, nothing more I thought I’d be a bit warmer”

Chantal, website review (3 stars)

We read the criticism too

Not everyone is won over, and we’d rather tell you so. When a comment keeps coming up, we look for what’s behind it.

Luc wrote this to us: “Having a 180X200 bed,I went for a 230X230 duvet, and I find it’s too small,so I often end up without any duvet”.

What we take from this: size matters more than you think. A duvet that’s too small means cold at the sides and nights spent fighting over it. Our advice: measure the width of your bed:

  • 135–140 cm bed (UK double) → 200 × 200 minimum
  • 150–160 cm bed (UK king) → 230 × 230 minimum
  • 180 cm bed and over (UK super king) → 264 × 229 minimum

If you’re between two sizes, choose the larger one.

“I’ll never go back to traditional duvets.”

Yvette, website review

More than a duvet: one less chore

What struck us most when rereading your messages wasn’t the technical details. It was sentences like Yvette’s, again and again.

People who had changed their cover every week for years, without a second thought. Until the day they saw it could be done differently.

And once you’ve made the switch, you don’t go back.
